What Is Dr. Naturel Revive?
Dr. Naturel Revive is a daily capsule supplement delivering cellular components known as phytoceramides. Phytoceramides are a class of lipids that comprise components of cell walls that are purported to decrease in number with age. The logic behind a phytoceramide supplement is that by ingesting phytoceramides, skin cells will have more cellular components for creating the binding matrices that keep moisture in the skin. With more moisture in the skin, a host of visible benefits are supposed to follow.

Possible Side Effects
As the phytoceramides of Dr. Naturel’s product are derived from rice and the capsules are free of animal products, Revive is safe for people who are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-intolerant. Additionally, given that phytoceramides are essentially just the lipid components of cell walls, one would suppose that there is negligible risk for any other side effects, though there is insufficient clinical data to support this claim.
Manufacturer’s Commitment
The manufacturer does not issue any sort of commitment or guarantee, which is common practice for over-the-counter nutritional supplements.
The Bottom Line
Dr. Naturel Revive is a standard delivery device of the popular phytoceramide skin care supplement. The primary difference of this supplement compared to others is its use of rice instead of wheat, and the manufacturer’s website anchors most of all product marketing on a single Japanese study reportedly demonstrating the superiority of rice-based phytoceramides. While we were unable to locate the original scientific study, it has been cited online by multiple different skin care manufacturers. Amazon reviews of the product were generally positive.
The one curiosity we found with Dr. Naturel’s product is the difference in dosage: the standard dosage for most phytoceramide supplements – whether they are derived from wheat or from another starch – is 350mg. This product only contains 40mg of phytoceramides and stands by this dramatically reduced dosage. The reasoning listed on the manufacturer’s website and in responses to comments on Amazon is that rice-based phytoceramides are more potent than wheat-based, which is supported by data from the same Japanese study mentioned above. We don’t have enough information to comment on the effectiveness of rice-based vs. wheat-based phytoceramides, but we do know that regardless of the plant derivative, most other phytoceramide supplements offer twice as many capsules in a bottle for the same price.
